Barr. Solomon Selcap Dalung charged the NYSC helmsman to be fair in their dealing, and also to be just and kind to all the staff as he would be faced with many interests band also advised him to be focused as he pilots the affairs of the scheme.
He noted the role of the NYSC in national development and integration, stating that if there was no NYSC, Nigeria would have scattered; therefore it must be sustained and modified. He went further to assure the new NYSC Director General of the Ministry’s continued support and wished him a successful tenure.
Earlier, the immediate past NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Johnson Olawumi who led the new Chief Executive Brigadier General Sule Kazaure had informed the Minister that the handing/taking over formalities had been completed and was in his office to formally introduce Kazaure as the 17th Director-General.
J.B. Olawumi, the past NYSC Director General expressed appreciation of the good working relationship he enjoyed with the Minister while he was on seat; describing his successor as a seasoned officer and craved the same support for him.
This is a new era, a new dawn for prospective corps members. This might bring the change Nigeria has been craving for in the National Youth service corps as well as listen to corps members’ need, interest and quest to be heard.
